EID AL-ADHA

We already saw that Muslims and the country of Arabia do not celebrate Christmas. If they are a little more attached to opening their borders and little by little letting people celebrate and their traditions change. But despite this, the religion of Islam has a celebration that would be similar to giving thanks to their God. Called Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, this holiday commemorates Abraham's will.

Abraham is the father of Ishmael, who is sacrificed as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened and gave him a lamb to sacrifice in his place. The 12th month of the Muslim calendar is celebrated on the tenth day, approximately from July 11 to August 8, although it is not on dates where Christmas is celebrated, it is one of the most important festivals of Islam and represents for them the same as the birth of jesus for christians. It is characterized by the offering of an animal sacrifice, either a cow or a lamb, as thanksgiving to God for saving the life of Ishmael, son of the prophet Abraham.

On this day the Muslims who are in Mecca conclude the rites of their pilgrimage and, after the special prayer, perform animal sacrifice. In many places it is not mandatory and it all depends on the economic resources you have and the possibility of sacrificing the animals, in addition to the animal offering and moments of prayer, this festivity includes gifts for boys and girls in many places. In the case of Mecca pilgrims, and as part of the end of the Hajj, the men shave their heads and get rid of their white garments worn during the previous days, while the women cut locks of their hair as a symbol of rebirth. and renewal. This is a holiday that is very similar to Christmas in the religion and culture of Islam and is very important to the Arabs.
